Put your phone in ethernet mode instead of mass storage and be sure to have usb debugging on.

thanks i did that but i think i found what the proplem was.. i installed the drivers from the lg site.. and all the files started to load up.. i now have root..

Glad to hear that. Remember, if you debloat, don't remove the Google play apps. (video, etc.) it will soft brick your device.

Ya so I see this now! Ugh. I have a problem. I started to freeze my apps and now when it boots, it boots to the LG screen and after that it goes to the next screen and says "Security Error" !!

It will not boot at all after that and I need help!
I had BP and did a custom recovery back to stock -- all went well

Updated OTA v6b and v7 -- all good

i rooted this way http://androidforums.com/spectrum-all-things-root/637556-root-lg-spectrum-ics-ota.html --all good

All was working fine until I froze a a google app...phone "froze" and i restarted and now get "Security Error" each boot up! What can I do to get my phone working again??

Try doing a factory reset. Press power+volume down and it'll go into recovery. Press power twice and it'll factory reset and reboot. After that you should be good to go. If that doesn't work, you can flash the .cab file using the kpz500 method. Search this forum for "flashing lg signed firmware" and you'll find it. Good luck.

Thanks trigger. I did try doing a factory reset. It just does not want to do that either. After confirming to erase goes to the little android guy for a few seconds and then reboots and goes back to "security error" on boot up.

^ That tool is a must have, gents. I only use it when I'm flashing a stock rom back on my device and I recommend it to everyone. Much better than the OTA method.

Worked Great! Thought i was screwed once again lol. Had to flash for my "security error" Thanks Again Neph +1.

How did you manage to push V7 into the phone?
-I have the "Security error" message
-I have tried to do a factory reset, but it does not help
-I followed the instructions to do the v7 push with KP500 application
-The LG update tool fails at 50% and says "This is not possible any longer due to a fatal error"

Can someone please help? D:

I responded in the other thread, but I'll respond here again. Double check that you have a fully functional internet connection on the machine and make sure you have the full V7 cab file. It should be 580MB. If you have both of those, make sure you are typing the instructions into the KP500 tool exactly as directed and make sure you are not working in a directory that for some reason has a space on it. ie C:\Documents and Settings\Neph\Desktop\KP500 would not work on a XP setup.

I am having same issue but I'm using ubuntu. Says daemon running successfully but nothing happens. I've tried in Ethernet and modem modes.

Anyone keep getting errors when the computer is opening the .cab file? Mine just keeps telling me phone is not connected after getting halfwsy through..

Have to be "root" in terminal, don't know Ubuntu but in openSuse you type "su" in Terminal and then give root password, I think in Ubuntu you are "root" all the time and have "sudo".
"sudo -s" works in Terminal in openSuse and Ubuntu.

You need to edit the permissions for all the programs it uses so they are executable. Try 'chmod -r 755 ./<yourdirectoryname>' but replace it with the directory name of the root tool.

tonight, I'm getting a "fatal error" and the update program refuses to go on, any ideas? I know the phone isn't totally trashed...

I think its kind of sad that everyone is responding to donkeyrattle... the post from a month and a half ago but ignoring you lol.

From the sound of it I'm guessing you are doing the v7 update using the lg software.
2 resources for you to read thru -
Flashing LG signed Firmware - LG Spectrum - RootzWiki
and

Also be sure to use a good USB cable, like the one that came with the phone.

I just got home, but that is the same advice I would give. Also, make sure you are not on a USB and that you have all the LG drivers installed.
