Problems uploading music

I often transfer music between my computer and samsung galaxy sii skyrocket by copying folders of mp3s to the "music" folder on my phone. Sometimes the folders will show up on my phone under "albums," but sometimes they don't, and it seems arbitrary as to which ones will show up properly in my music player. Any suggestions?

You need to tag them properly.

Especially if you downloaded the original files from an online source. An ID3 tag allows the creator of a file to embed relevant information like the name of the artist, track title, album, track number and genre in the file, allowing that information to travel with the file. ID3 tags are what group songs into albums and depending on who posted the songs online they could edit in any information they wanted onto it. There are plenty of free ID3 tag editors for your PC available online. There are even ID3 tag editors in the play store.
