Help Problems using MeContacts

me92

Lurker
I apologize as this is my first experience with downloading and installing an app and I'm unsure about what information I need to give you so you can help me. I have an X10 Model number U20i Firmware version 2.1-update1 and MeContacts Beta 0.46.

My goal is to use Mecontacts to send a single text message to at least 15 people at the same time. The text would be something like this

I did see an issue with sending multi sms when your phone memory is low. The phone just doesn't have the computing capacity to deal with it. If you have lots of messages stored on your phone it may be worth using an app to back them up to your SD card to clear a bit of space. The other thing to try is only sending say 5 at a time to see if that is successful.

I used Mecontacts on my X10 but was only sending to a group of 5 and it worked fine, from memory the process you describe is acurate.

What am I doing wrong? Or is there an easier app that I could use to send these text messages?
Thanks for your help.
Thank you for asking this question!

This is what I would do, download and install the free app "DW Contacts and Phone" on the Market, use it to make a group or groups as you see fit and it can also send sms/text messages to said groups. Problem solved ;)

The most common email app people download is called Handcent.

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.handcent.nextsms&hl=en

When you create a text it bring up a list of all your contacts and you can mark which one's you want to email.

I believe it also lets you create groups.....but you can easily select the group of users you want to text.

Since it is the most common, there is a lot of help for it out there and it is pretty well trusted.

Handcent is an SMS app....it can see groups you've already got on your phone but I don't think it can make groups. I've tried and failed. That's why I like DW Contacts cause not only can you use it to send groups sms, it's got it's own dialer, can make groups and numerous other functions that the stock apps/handcent can't do, all in one handy app.

But if you choose the Handcent route, that will work too, just make sure to go to the market and download the hancent group plugin ;)

Handcent.

Open the App....click the add button in the top left.....click the middle tab called Group....it has phone Groups on the left and Handcent Groups on the right.

On the left you can't create groups...you can only use the one's that have been created on the phone's default contact list, but if you click on the right, Handcent Groups, you can create your own.
