Help Problems with calling and sending txts

Hey.

I have a problem with my Xperia X10i. I got it from a buddy couple of days ago, and it was fine when i got it. I restored it so i didnt have anything on there, then i proceed to sync it up with my google account and so on. It worked fine for two days, then now, it won't let me call anyone or send any texts.

I have checked with my carrier, and thats all fine. My SIM works with my iPhone and I can both call and send texts from it. I also got full signal bar on the x10, so I just cant figure out the problem. Even checked the IMEI number with some internet sites and it seems like it isnt stolen or found or anything.

So does anyone know what the problem with the phone can be? Can I do anything that will make sure that my phone will call and send texts?

Appreciate any answers i can get, and thanks. ;)

This may be an odd question, but the phone is not in Airplane Mode is it?

Main Menu > Settings > Wireless & Networks > Airplane mode > Ensure this is not ticked.

If this is not selected then I would strongly advise running a software update in case this is a software issue.

If it was in Airplane mode, there would be no bars....so that's not it.

Two things. Probably MMS settings. You need those to connect to the 3G and send texts.

Hit Menu button, if top option is Sony Ericsson, select that and download settings from your provider...that will get the settings.

If you don't have that Sony Ericsson option at the top (AT&T) then hit the Menu button, go to Wireless, goto Mobile, goto Access Point Name. If there is nothing there....that is the problem. You need these settings from your provider.

Something like this....just google x10 MMS Settings and your cell phone provider name. Like x10 MMS settings at&t

Then you would need to fill in this info

Name: AT&T
APN: wap dot cingular
Proxy: leave blank
Port: leave blank
Username:WAP at CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password:CINGULAR1
Server: leave blank
MMSC: mmsc dot cingular dot com
MMS Proxy: wireless dot cingular dot com
MMS Port: 80
MCC:310
MNC:410 (note. this could also be 310, 41 or 15)
APN Type: leave blank

In that Mobile Networks, make sure you have your cell provider selected under Mobile Networks. It will show all the carriers, and you select which one you want.

MMS and Internet settings should not affect the handsets ability to make calls or send and receive sms.

I first suggest a Factory Data Reset do the following,

Menu > Settings > Privacy > Factory Data Reset ( this will remove all data from the handsets memory but will not touch a Memory card or SIM card)

for 1.6 try the following

Menu > Settings > SD card and Phone Storage > Factory Data Reset ( this will remove all data from the handsets memory but will not touch a Memory card or SIM card)

Failing the above simply perform a software re installation using PC Companion. I have supplied a link below for this software,

PC Companion:
Xperia? X10 mini - Pccompanion - Subject - Downloads - Mobile phones - Support - Sony Ericsson

If PC Companion fails simply use the Update Service

Update Service:
Xperia? X10 mini - Updateservice - Subject - Downloads - Mobile phones - Support - Sony Ericsson

If you have any issues using any of the information provided, please feel free to come back and I will endeavor to supply further support.
