Help Problems with contacts mobile number

I have some contacts in my HTC One X where I cannot call or SMS them because the phone thinks the mobile number is invalid but when they call me or text me the phone recognises them OK. Most contacts work fine. The mobile number is entered correctly i.e. 07784 123456 but thing about the contacts that don't work is when you look up the contact it displays in US format i.e. +44 (0)778-412-3456. The mobiles that work display as 07784 123456 or 07784123456. My system language is set to English (UK). Any suggestions appreciated.

Hi Paul and Welcome to the Forum :)

I've had this problem before with a HTC Wildfire and my HTC Desire... I ended up just going through my phone book and changing the numbers to 0789... from +44789...

Did the number come from the Facebook app or are they added in by you? If you delete the number and get them to text you again does it show up as +4478... again?

Sorry I couldn't be of more help...

Thanks for the reply. When I edit the number it looks OK i.e. in UK format its when it display and you use it it is in US format. I add them from iPad or Outlook on PC and it is just a few that are wrong not all which is weird. I even deleted the contact - added it again & the number was OK. Then I edited another part of the contact and the mobile changes to US format - even weirder!
Paul
