Help Problems With Contacts

I am new to my X2 so please bear with me. The guy at the phone store moved my contacts from my prior phone (Palm Pre). Then a computer nerd friend moved my email contacts onto the phone. Now I have two "contacts" for many individuals. They cannot be merged, nor can they be edited. My "solution" is to delete and add. When I attempt that I am greeted with a message to choose "Google" or "Backup Assistant." Which is the "best" choice? I want Phone numbers, address and email all on one contact site.

Backup Assistant is Verizon's mobile to mobile transfer. Google sync with your Google account. I chose Google because I plan to stick to android for a while and Google allows you to export easily.

When you get your contacts how you want them, I would export them to your SD Card. Go to your main contacts page and hit the menu button. Then "Export" them to your SD card. Then if you ever are in a situation where you need to add your contacts you can simply "Import" them onto your phone without having to go through Backup Ass or Google.

This won't do you much good if you happen to lose your phone along with the SD card, will it?
You better have it backed up somewhere else besides the SD card.

That is true, which is why I also copy the vCard file to my computer which I failed to mention. I have had to many problems with BA and Google.
