Help problems with google registration on Samsung Galaxy S

Chala

Lurker
Hi everybody,

I have a problem. On my Galaxy S I cannot register the google account in order to use market, gmail application and even such a basic function as calendar application. It keeps infoming me that it cannot connect to the internet (and really the web traffic indication is completely dead). Tha same happens with wifi connection. At the same time internet is working perfectly on the phone and I registered my gmail account without problems in phone's e-mail application and it works perfectly. What kind of a smatphone is this if it registeres my account in one applicaton and does not connect for the same pupose in other app? My daughter has Moto Milestone with the same version of Android and is using the same netwok provider.
I am new Android user and it is quite probable that I am making some stupid mistake, but aren't these phones suposed to be user friendly and simple to operate at least at the basic level? I had been using Nokia phones for years and, yes, they are slower not this modern, but one thing you have to admit - whats on the phone works and it does not take a masters degree in electro nics to operate them.
I would appreciate help and guidance with this problem, otherwise it becomes almost useless.
Thanks in advance,
Chala

Sounds like your phone has a bug :(
I had only to register once to access all these services. What firmware version do you have?

Same problem. It tells me that it cannot establish a connection. Thing is it was working for me previously, and I have accounts still being sync. But I can't create any new ones since jul.

I had the same problem, it let me crate two gmail accounts then when I tried to add a new one a week later it failed, to fix this I backed up all my data and factory reset my phone, pain in the arse but it did fix the problem.

I did the factory reset and it solved the problem (at least for now). I would like to thank you for your help and advice.

I have the same exact problem except it won't even let me register my gmail account in the gmail app, so nothing that requires a Google account will work.

Basically, i was on my phone for hours trying to figure out what was wrong and then i searched my phone and found out that i didnt activate background data, this has to be activated to use the android market and create gmail accounts.
