I am having trouble with putting the icons on my home screen. Whenever I push the icon to view my installed apps (I am not sure if there is a specific name for this icon/button) and I tap and hold the icon for a app that is installed, let's say Facebook for example, it brings me to a screen where I can put the [Facebook icon] on my home screen. However, when I try to do this, it will either show a "big fantom icon" on the home screen or it will go into a folder that I did not tell it to go to.
I have installed apps from untrusted sources, so I didn't know if this is a glich in the Android OS, or if it the sign of a virus. I had no problems of the sorts when the phone was new and only had the factory apps installed and this problem started AFTER I had started installing apps from untrusted sources.
I have done virus scans with Avast, AVG, and CM Security, and they have only found PUP's (Potentially Unwanted Programs). I have also tried to reset "Launcher" by clearing the catche as well as cleaning the data associated with "Launcher".However, That did not solve the problem.
I am fairly litterate when it comes to OS's such as Windows and some what Ubuntu, however, when. It comes to Android, I am completely lost.
Device details:
NOT rooted
Manufacturer: ZTE
Model: Z958
Android Version: 5.1
I am not against doing a factory reset, but it would be a pain. Thank you for the help on advance.
