I want to watch movies on my LG Optimus. I downloaded a couple of different players and tried watching a .avi file. The video was fine, but there was no audio. Tried extending the buffer, but it didn't help.
Different devices have different hardware and therefore different abilities to handle various bitrates and formats.
And you can't just go by the filename extension. That's the container and doesn't tell you about what codecs are used... or what options of the myriad of available settings per codec were used.
All you can do is try and see. If a video doesn't work, you need to transcode it on a computer into something easier to digest by your specific model device.
