Help Problems with phone

I have had issues with the Mesmerize missing several calls in a day. It doesn't even ring, doesn't show a missed call and just pops up a voicemail sometimes an hour after the message was left. I have factory reset the phone after I updated to 2.2 and it still just sort of does what it wants to. I use my phone for work and was on blackberry before. Anyone know if they are going to fix the issues with this phone or is it best to just chuck the droid technology and hit blackberry back up.

Its not necessarily a problem with Android. It sounds like you're in an area that has weak signal. Some (maybe all, I'm not sure?) Blackberries have antennas with longer range than other smartphones, including the iPhone and Androids. I was able to get signal in some places with my old berry that I can't even hope for with my Mez.

I am having the same issues with my phone. It is also "dropping texts". I love my mesmerize, but this is a huge problem. I am also experiencing many other issues as well, but at this point would be happy if i could receive all my phone calls and texts! Being in area with a weak signal is not the issue- i have perfectly good reception most places I go and do get the vm notification immediately after the 'dropped call'. Anyone have any suggestions?

Just curious... have you downloaded apps from the market that use your notification bar, like a tepmerature, battery status, other than facebook or your regular phone icons that appear in notification bar?

I occasionally experience missed calls/messages, and wonder if it has anything to do with glitches that the rumored "2.2 patch" will fix. The Mes is a great phone, but it does not pull in as strong a signal as my Blackberry Curve 8530 did.

In many coverage areas the 3G signal is not as strong as what 1G is. That combined with the Mes not having as good an antena must be the reason...at least that is what a USCC rep tried to get me to believe...for inconsistent behavior??

I use WB Elite and have enabled the temp icon in the notification bar. I have turned that off for now to see what, if anything, will change. I use the WB Elite widget on my home screen, so I see the current temp anyway.

There is a 2.3 update coming out soon to help with these problems... a tech from USCellular informed me on 5/28. I'm surprised there has been no hipe about this update. But it is supposed to help with missed calls and texts.

Hope we do not have to wait as long for 2.3 as we did for 2.2. Time will tell.

If it makes you feel any better, I can't think of any smartphones that have the antenna strength that Blackberries do.

And depending on where you live, USCC's 3G coverage is average at best. Up until very, very recently, they have not put a lot of effort into upgrading their network backbone. It will be interesting to see how they respond to the big boys racing to upgrade to "4G".

Probably because we're all tired of waiting for updates, and so we don't get our hopes up. I stopped worrying about when updates would come out at least 3 or 4 smartphones ago. There are plenty of other things to do with my time.

I'm have the same issue. My phone never rings, no missed call or any info in call log but then I get a voicemail notice. Signal is not the issue because US Cellular has a phone tower on the property that runs next to mine. And the reason I know that is a USC tower is that a tech stood in my driveway to see if I wasnt getting a good signal after I had called several times about this and was going to drop my service after being with them 15ys. So the tech told me its not a signal issue because that was their tower. then USC said its a Samsung software issue and a update is coming out. That was a month ago still no update and still missed call.

It's very interesting to hear this issue being discussed. I've had the Mez since the day they were released, and we have a total of 5 of them in our office. Nobody has complained of these issues in our group.

We've had some of the other issues that have been described in other threads, but not missed calls or texts.

I just got my phone 3 days ago, but seem to be missing calls. When I go into settings, & sound, for notification, it will (99% of the time) will say application settings has stopped...please try again. For 2 1/2 days, I haven't had any notifications, and for the voice call ringtone, apparently that isn't working all the time..sometime, have to look at the phone to realize you are getting a call--why don't the ring-tones stay & work?

Do you have any apps, like Go SMS Pro installed on your phone? That will override some of those settings.
