Problems with SD cards and battery life

I know the two do not seem related, but I started to have trouble with both at the same time. I have put in 2 32GB micro SD cards (From MicroCenter) into my Samsung S3 and they work for about a week with no problems, then the phone will either unmount the card or the phone says that the SD card is corrupted. If I take the card out and look at the files on my laptop, everything is fine. My second card I formatted as FAT32 after reading of some problems using the formatting software on the phone.
Also, at about this same time, I noticed that if I tried to play music from the SD card on my phone, that it would not always see the music on the sd card. If I unmount and remount the card in settings then that seems to temporarily fix the problem. Associated with this is that media and media server are always running in background and draining my battery. I am lucky to get 1/2 days worth of juice from the battery when this happens.
Has anyone else had these problems with the Samsung S3? What should I do?
