Hi all, hoping someone can shed some light on this.
I've just got a HTC Desire and have been monitoring the battery life. I've read tons about this and I'm almost at the point where I'll be happy with the setup.
Checking under 'Running Services' I can see something called:
Google Services Framework
Process: com.google.process.gapps
Which apparently is started by Google Messaging Ser(something *I can't see the rest of what its called).
This I've noticed and monitored seems to cause more than double my battery drain overnight.
Usually when this isn't running I'll lose around 6% overnight which is great but when this process is running overnight its nearly double that. I've tested this by killing the process and my battery drain reverts back to around 6%.
I don't want to keep killing the process but I can't find out exactly what is starting it. It seems to run when I turn on Wifi but when I turn it off the service doesn't go away. I've monitored that by restarting the phone, when checking the running services it isn't there. If I turn on wifi it appears but if I turn off wifi. I have checked 5 hours later and that process is still running.
What exactly is this process? What app does it belong to? Web search just lists tons of problems with this stopping unexpectly (I don't have any issues with that) but I can't find anything that tells me what this belongs to.
Anyone?
