Help process.com.motorola.process.system has stopped

DANANDDAN

Lurker
The other day I did an operating system update after getting the little notification thingy.

Towards the end the message "process.com.motorola.process.system has stopped" appeared, and continues to appear every time I click it. So I basically cant do much with the phone. I've tired recovery, factory reset, safe mode etc but nothing clears the error. The phone still attempts to install the updated apps when it restarts and so do the continuous pop ups.

Is there anything I can do to restore the phone to actual factory settings like it was new via usb or something? I've tried connecting the phone via usb (assuming there might be something I could do that way) but kept getting an MTP install error so that's another jolly thing to sort out I guess!

The phone is only 5 months old so I guess there's warranty if it would cover this? All I did was install an update the phone notified me of but I guess they could argue I'm a numpty!

At this point I'm pulling my hair out! :/

Hey there, did you get this fixed? I'm having the same issue with a 1st Generation Moto G!

I tried the fix reported here: https://reformedmusings.wordpress.c...s-system-has-stopped-unexpectedly-in-android/

Go to settings, date & time.
Switch “Automatic” off.
Set timezone to some INCORRECT timezone ( say Greenland )
Switch “Automatic” on.

But that didn't work for me. Wondering how you got on?

The difficulty I've had and that I don't see online is that every time I hit 'OK' on this message, the message box reappears within 200-300 milliseconds. So as soon as I hit 'OK', the message instantly reappears. Unlocking the phone is a nightmare and I can't use it to do anything because this message keeps reappearing...

I've tried booting to safe mode but have the same problem.
As the phone reboots, it starts upgrading apps and then the message appears.
I've also noticed that my 'clock' app is missing from my homescreen AND from the apps screen... leading me to think that this really does have something to do with Time and Date settings.

Anyone else experiencing this? Any other fixes?

Haven't tried the factory reset yet, trying to avoid it.

I had to send my phone back in the end. Factory reset didn't work, the error remained. Virgin replaced my phone with a new one as they couldn't fix it when I sent it for repair.
