Profile pics for some contacts but not for all?

Hi, everyone. I'm sorry if this has been asked, but the few threads I tracked down basically said "you should ask in your own phone forum". So here I am.

I have a new Glide and am pretty thrilled with it compared to the Cliq I had before. But I'm curious about contact pics. I have an address book with multiple entries for just about everyone since I've had multiple phones. (I'd love to clean this up too... if anyone has ideas about that I'd love to hear them) I also have Facebook installed. For MOST of my contacts, if they're on FB, then their FB profile pic shows up in my contacts. But for a significant minority (1/3?), no picture shows. This was actually true on my Cliq, too. Why is this?

Then there's a second level to the question... I use Handcent for text/mms. For almost everyone, IF there's a pic in my contacts, it shows up in Handcent. But for a few, no pic shows in Handcent even though it's in my contacts.

What gives?

Don't know about the pictures, but there is a way to deal with the multiple entries. It's been a couple of years since I did this, so I don't remember the exact steps. You have to do it from a PC, log into your gmail account and go to the contacts. Somewhere in there there is an option to merge duplicates.

If you don't find it I'll try to retrace the steps I took when I'm at a desktop in a day or two.
