Help Profile Switching in ICS

AdmSuvvuk

Greetings,
Prior to the ICS update I was using a program called "Profile" to surpress Txt notifications while allowing the phone to ring during the night. Since the update, it seems I can either turn all sounds off or leave them on, bu tit doesn't appear to separate ringing from notifications. I've tried several other apps designed to do the same things and none of them appear to work correctly.

Has anyone managed to find an app that is working?

Try Audio Control.

Thanks. It still doesn't let me separate ringer and notification. I can create exceptions, but that's not going to work, because I can't create a blanket exception, it has to be specific in Audio Control--at least as I understand how it works.

I'm on call 24/7 so I need my phone to be able to ring on a voice call, but I want to silence notifications/text/mail/etc at night. I was able to do that easily with half-dozen or more programs (like Audio control), but since upgrading they no longer work.

I wonder if I'm doing something wrong, because it seems counter productive that they would slip backwards like that.

You need to go to settings, turn custom ringer on. Make sure Link Ringtones and Notifications is off. I have the paid version. Sounds like just what you are asking for.

And that may very well be what I was doing wrong. I've done that now and will test it...thanks!
EDIT: Ok, that does work, but when I get a call it turns notifications back on. That's interesting, but I can make that work out.

I just tested it and it does turn them back on when you get a call, but if you set up profiles and stick a widget on your desktop, you can just hit your "Night" profile and turn them back off when you finish your phone call. The Dev will no doubt fix the issue at some point.

That's pretty much what my line of thought was too. Besides, if the phone rings in the middle of the night, chances are I'm going to want it all coming back active anyway so it will just save me a step! ;)

I can make this work. My wife thanks you...she was displeased by the notifications going off...LOL

Happy wife, happy life. At least that's what I tell my husband :)
