I recently installed a FRONT YARD Sensor that uses the DAKOTA 2500 receiver system. The receiver allows you to connect wires to an ECOLINK Z-WAVE door sensor and when the alarm is triggered it tells SMARTHINGS to send a TEXT message to my CELL PHONE.
I wanted to use a voice alert so I used the RECEIVED text event in TASKER to recognize a specific message (FRONTYARDALERT) that is sent by the SMARTHINGS hub.
The PROFILE matches the CONTENT with the message and triggers a TASK ACTION to using the SAY command. In order for the SAY command to work all the time, I had to UNCHECK the REDUCE BATTERY power option in PREFERENCES.
The system is RELIABLE and ACCURATE. I do not get any FALSE alarms from the SENSOR, it only detects CARS and PEOPLE. Unlike most PIR SENSORS, this SENSOR uses a narrow beam which is not susceptible to the elements.
