Root Promlame Whilst rooting!! HELP

ok i am trying to root using this site :14/Jun r6 riskfreeroot - HTC Desire rooting guide - now with HBOOT 0.80 and OS to 1.21 support - Android @ MoDaCo because my bootloader is version 0.80,
and it all goes well until restoring i can restore it all ok but when i press Apply sdcard:update.zip i get an error saying "signiture varification failed instalation aborted"
any ideas? please help, jason

Sounds like a goldcard issue?

I used the goldcardtool linked as a sticky here http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-desire/117710-goldcard-tool.html and had no problems.

Maybe worth a try.

Just to confirm, I've got the same bootloader as yourself, used the same guide but just substitues the gold card creation using the tool. Worked right off the bat.

@jason - Have you got an unlocked/unbranded Desire? If so, you can root without a Goldcard and may be a better solution if it is indeed the Goldcard which is causing issue.

I thought you confirmed it as uinbranded last night? Re-format your sdcard and root without the goldcard steps, this should sort you out (as mbatson says).

sounds like i need a gold card then, i ddnt think it was branded as there is no vodafone logos, it ddnt come in a vodafone box ect, anyway ill go have a look for an sd card then, i know i have one somewhere thanks

Hate it when that happens, looked all last night couldnt find one, found one within ten mins this morning, ok round 2

whoa, hold up... what exactly did you do before? did you have an sdcard in the fone? did you make a goldcard or not? did you copy the update.zip to the sdcard, leaving a copy in the r6 folder?

yes ive done all that created a gold card and im still getting the error message
