no its not.
they gave you it but it wont work. anyone can get it but using it...thats another story.

i am going to say this one last time....tmobile does not provide insurance for the nexus one. if you think you have coverage on it because someone signed you up for it, or told you that it transfered...you do not have it. Asurion is the company that provides the warranty/insurance for tmobile, att, and many other service providers. they in no way will honor any claims for a nexus 1. they will only honor claims for phones sold directly through tmobile. AGAIN...asurion and/or tmobile does not in anyway have any warranty for the nexus one. they dont even offer it on the iphone.
stop saying you have insurance through tmobile when you dont. if i could reach through my computer and give you a smack and a wake up call i would.
if anyone would like some very interesting info on how you may (if it happens) get insurance on your nexus in the future, pm me. i do not feel like posting this here. there is a strange loophole in the tmobile system for insurance.

I got an unlocked N1 and had to go back in because they screwed my SIM card up. When I did the nice lady offered me insurance and said they don't usually insure unlocked phones but that T-Mobile has made an exception for the N1.
Not sure how reliable it was but when I got my SIM card the first time they said that they did not offer it on unlocked phones and then second time I showed up they were offering it to me.
afine1 is probably right but it sure doesn't stop T-Mobile sales people from pushing insurance.

I am a T-Mobile dealer.
If you are a current T-Mobile customer and currently have PHP on your existing handset, when you switch to the Nexus One your PHP WILL CARRY OVER. An email directly from the president of the company was sent out on Friday regarding this issue.
If you are a NEW T-Mobile customer, PHP is NOT available for the Nexus One.

As I said before, I WORK for T-Mobile.
AN EMAIL was sent ON FRIDAY to EVERY T-Mobile corporate store stating that current PHP subscribers WOULD carry over!!
Go to a T-Mobile corporate store. Ask to see the email.

I don't have a Nexus 1, but, all my previous phones, I've insured with my bank, usually came to around

a new customer is eligable. this comes from asurion who handles the insurance on cell phones for just about evey company there is. tmob is the one who handles the warranty. asurion is handling claims for any new nexus 1 phones...new customers or not. and the reason old customers with PHP are eligable is for 2 resons...1) the insurance follows the sim card...and 2) the nexus is obviously a new phone.
as a so called "tmobile" dealer you should be aware of a major catch to the tmobile insurance. it is a huge loophole. if you do not know it, in no way would i believe you are a tmobile dealer. what is the loophole...i know it....do you? and i did give you a hint.
why did you go from saying "i am a tmobile DEALER" to saying you "WORK FOR tmobile"?

I called Tmo today and they said they are not covering it. The rep I talked to asked the manager. I'll call tomorrow and see if anything has changed.
BUT, I think an insurance policy through someone like All State might be better anyway. I used to have some photography equipment insured under what they called an Inland Marine Policy. It covered loss, theft, damage - everything that Asurion covers only for less than the 6 bucks a month Tmo charges and with a much lower deductible that 120 bucks. Maybe this is the way to go.
Now, I'm not sure if they consider things like depreciation if you have to file a claim, and they may only want to replace it with a similar item (similar defined by them, of course). But something to consider at least.

I had to register just to respond. The official word is that PHP is available for the Nexus One. The PHP $4.79 which offers ONLY insurance coverage form Asurion is offered. The PHP $5.99 bundle is not offered as T-Mobile will not provide warranty claims for the device. It doesn't matter if you are a new customer or not. PHP is available.

i hope your not trying to state that it doesnt matter if you don't have insurance, all you have to do is find someone with insurance and use their sim to register and file a claim. That would be fraud. Also, T-Mobile can see which IMEI is being used and when it was first and last used on the account. Asurion has the right to verify.
Do you realize that this is the same deal that just about every cell phone company offers for just about every smartphone out there. Also this is the same exact deal no mater what android/winmo phone T-Mobile carries. I think it is a great deal especially when you figure the cost of the nexus vs the cost of the other phones it covers. $190 over a year or $530? Maybe you should stop carrying car insurance or even health insurance. A lot of times they are not worth it either.
