Help Proximity sensor not working - display stays on while phone next to face

Is anyone having this issue? Friend of mine has the D2. Says the display does not turn off when next to her face and registers any touches. I don't have a D2, so I don't know what the phone options/settings might be.

I dont have the problem but you can try the app sreelb, that app allows you to change when the screen turns off and on.

Didn't see sreelb in market. Does the market only show apps compatible with the device? I have an Inc, so maybe that's why? Anyhow, she definitely wants to have a properly working phone, so if this isn't an incorrect setting, she'll probably have to exchange it I guess.
