Help proximity sensor w/ screen protector

I just installed a screen protector w/ my protective case and now the proximity sensor automatically thinks the phone is next to my ear and the screen turns off.

Is there a way to recalibrate the sensor or do I just have a crappy screen protector?

Has this happened to anyone else?

sounds like your protector extends too far towards the top of the screen. it shouldn't cover the sensor. can't you cut it shorter?
