I think that this feature is automatic. But I know that it is right next to the ear piece on your phone near the led light.

Just got a Maxx and the phone doesnt react to me putting my face up to the phone, and I dont see a way in ICS to timeout the screen while on a phone call. Anyone else having similar?

When a thread is 2 months old it may be a better idea just to start your own so you aren't bumping it to the top.

As for your problem I'm not sure it works fine for me..

Check to see if it is even activated, or on. Go into the program menu. On the dialer ##7764726. PW is six zeros(000000). Option 10 will tell you if it is on or not. Have fun with the menu and be careful.
