Purchasing apps

So I want to start purchasing some apps, etc from the Android Market but got a few ques's:

1) can I use a visa gift card?
2) how do I know that apps will work with the ADW Launcher Ex I currently use for my themes?
3) what happens if I purchase an app and it doesn't work? Can I return it and be refunded?
4) Besides the Android Market, are there any other sites that are trusted and have apps that the Android Market doesn't?

1. AFAIK yes

2. Apps work regardless of launcher, unless they are launcher extensions or widgets made for other launchers (for example Go Locker and Go Widgets work only for Go Launcher). This information is in the app description anyway.

3. Sadly you only have 15min to try an app for for refund

4) The only other place I would purchase apps from is the Amazon Appstore. I'm not sure what their refund policy is though.

I've never bought an app yet but it's not because I'm tight. I'm keen to buy one or two full versions and would quite happily give donations for free apps that I use but I'm reticent to give my credit card details to Google. If you could pay by PayPal, that would make life much easier.

I am actually gonna try a Visa gift card I think.
