Push Email (Gmail)

Ok, I'm trying to figure out why I have set up my gmail account properly, yet I do not get any type of notification when new email comes in. Am I missing something?

Are you using the Gmail app and not the Mail app? Once you sign into the Gmail app, email will be pushed instantly.

You have to have mail sync enabled.

Menu > Settings > Accounts & Sync

I am signed in to both I believe, but I am sure about the gmail app.

When I went there it showed that it last synced an hour ago, but I did it anyway.

In your Gmail app, go to Menu | Settings. Then look under the Notifications setting section. Ensure that Email notifications is checked.

Still nothing. As a matter of fact, I had to refresh it to see the test message I sent to it.

Make sure Background Data is checked and Auto Sync is checked.

Background is checked, but I cannot find an auto sync option.

I'm beginning to wonder if I should not just reset the whole phone and start from scratch. Right now, as I said, I'm not even getting notified of new gmail nor is it even coming to the phone. I have to refresh the app to retrieve new mail.
