Root pushing for OTA update

How do you push for the latest ota update manually? If this is possible....

settings->about phone->system updates.

This will give you OTA gingerbread, which is unrootable.

If you want to get rooted gingerbread, its a bit more complicated.

Triedbthat it said mybphone was up to date.....isnt there like a number you can dial that would help push it also? Just wondering.....

the number you're referring to only does the same thing as going to settings, etc. I tried it as well and all it did was go to the system updates screen.

"Pushing" the update really only refers to VZW sending it out to you. If you are up to date after checking than they haven't qued you for the download yet. If you want it now then just download TBH's rooted version. I'm assuming you're still on froyo. So you would just need to root your phone using z4root, put in droid 2 bootstrap, download the two files, and flash your phone.
