ive been told that the samsung galaxys s2 has a crappy gpu, mali m400 something, and that it struggles to play 3d games, even the nexus s has one over it. Also ive heard the lg optimus 2xs tegra 2 wipes the floor with the mali gpu running games wise.?.?.??.?

i think someone is pulling your leg...the gs2 can handle 3d games with ease...and the quadcore gpu has no porblems at all!

Quadcore GPU?

Trolololololo.

You mean Dualcore CPU

And the GS2 seems to handle games fine, not as fast as other devices mind, but there shouldn't be any issues.

Ive seen a few comparisons where it cant even handle shrek kart! even my old palm pre does it perfectly, i understand that they have different OSs but still

oh behave lol....its been stated that the sgs2 has a dual core exyonos cpu which INCLUDES (i'll repeat it again.. INCLUDES) a Quad core GPU :)

Some games will run better on the Tegra 2, purely for the fact they have redesigned to run on the Nvidia chip. Look at whats recommended in the Tegra Zone app, for example.

Wow, some of you guys in this thread look like so behind the latest news on SGSII. The early benchmark on SGSII by anandtech was done with proto-type with unfinished drivers. Now as it's approaching the international launch oversea, some benchmarks on production versions are coming out and it's insanely fast. So fast that any Tegra2 or dual core snapdragon phones can't have any hope to catch up. And yes it has quad core Mali-400 GPU inside dual core Exynos CPU.

GS2 is more or less one of the top 4 phones out at the moment and will be for a fairly long time. It's also the best, (specification-wise) seeing as it has 1GB or ram and 16GB of internal storage (which make it, spefciation-wise slightly better than the Atrix, Sensation and the few Optimus phones out atm) Only think stopping it being the out right winner is, TouchWiz and the screen resolution ISN'T qHD, but the next best thing. :( Guess, there's not a perfect phone!

Everything is perfectly fine, Samsung seem to have played it safe on anything experimental for them that could sink the ship.

Have you seen new TouchWiz 4.0 in action in video? I didn't like it on Galaxy S either, but Samsung really beefed it up in SGSII to whole new level. Now it seems butterfly smooth with nice new features, which looks better than HTC Sense.

For the screen resolution thing, please look at the other thread on it here. There are very nice informative discussions there. Basically qHD brings nothing significant to table unless it's RGB square pixels. The qHD screen in Atrix/Bionic have pentile pixels which hinders graphic performance and battery life without real gain in effective sharpness.

i really advise the worried people to check out the techradar review because it shows you really have NOTHING to worry about

What specifically looks better in TW4 than Sense?

I don't really miss Sense on my Desire, once I got a good third party keyboard (SwiftKey, since you ask) and ADW.Launcher, I've been happy and I'll probably install them on my SGS2 within a week.

Yea I was just getting ready to say alot of the same things. The Pentile Matrix is one of the things I didn't like about Amoled, S Amoled. It looks like its fixed in S Amoled +.

And the latest version of Touchwiz looks nice. So much so that ppl that usually dont like these custom UI's on Android might be in for a surprise.

I actually prefer touchwiz on the sgs2 when compared to the standard android interface i have on my nexus s

Was never a big fan of Sense, but this is purely aesthetic appeal. It looks more WinMo to me, especially the color scheme and gradients. Also has too much of an office look. Would really like them to stop using those giant calendar date numbers for the clock. Some say Touchwiz is cartoony, and then I'd point them to the UI on the LG dLite. :D Touchwiz reminds me of the Bing homescreen crossed with the high-end Sony PS3 look. High contrast yet colorful and photogenic, with professional fonts and partitions that are simple and easy to understand yet not stark and hard on the eyes like WP7. Pleasant color shades for the backgrounds are always nice. I'm just making stuff up. Don't know any UI or gfx terminology. :p

Keep in mind that the SGSII's framerate is capped at 60fps so the scores below are gonna be much higher when vsync is disabled:-D
LG's phone don't have it's framerate capped.

Samsung Galaxy S II - Scores: (all retail stock performance)
----------------------------------------------------------
Quadrant Pro Benchmark:

GLBenchmark 2.0 Scores:

LG Optimus X2 - Scores: (all retail stock performance)
-----------------------------------------------------
Quadrant Pro Benchmark:
LG O2x Benchmark on Twitpic

GLBenchmark 2.0 Scores:
LG Optimus 2X - OpenGL ES performance and system information

..and remember that the SGSII's scores will only be even higher as soon as you turn off the vsync. (all the scores around ~58-59fps will then be higher)

I also saw a SmartBench 2011 result where the SGSII @stock 1.2GHz scored higher than an overclocked LGO2x @1.4GHz..

Mali is a norwegian tech, and we don't do things halfway;-)

'Nuff Said!!
