[Q] Baseband, kernel, build number

stich.loko

Lurker
Hi guys,

I've been wondering and I want to ask some question:

1. What is baseband version?
2. What is Kernel version?
3. What is Build number?
4. What do they do?

I just want to have a better understanding about android :)

Thumbs up!

1) The baseband controls communications on the device. Controls the cellular radios for your phone.
2) The kernal is the inner "core" of the OS. It controls how the software works with the hardware. One of the reasons many custom ROMs may have broken features if you're using an older kernal.
3) Build number is just an arbitrary number assigned to the software by the developer.
