Help [Q] Non-Root Backup of App's and Settings?

kmand

Is there a method on an unrooted Android phone to save the apps, settings and media for a restore from stock? This would be similar to what itunes allows for iphones.

This is not a question about saving or restoring firmware, just the apps/settings/media.

Also most of my app are free and not tracked by the google market account.

I'm on a Vibrant 2.2 phone, but it seems like a generally needed utility.

Thanks for mentioning your device, kmand. It does not seem completely relevant to your issue, as you say, but other Vibrant users may have done exactly what you're asking about, so I've moved your query to that device's forum.

I've moved apps and various other data, including media, etc to and from my devices (a Fascinate and an Eris) via USB cable.

As long as the computer you're using has the Vibrant drivers installed (this brings us to one reason your thread should be here ;)), you should be able to do that.

You'll be prompted to allow or disallow file movement right after you attach your USB cable from your computer to your device, select "allow," of course. ;)

Of course I've moved selected media files to and from the Vibrant by usb. What I don't know how to do is get a full backup of all apps, settings, logs, configurations, media in such a way that I can reset to stock and put them back the way they were including any registry (is there a registry).

Also I can't really see how this could be Vibrant specific, though I can imagine it being Android version specific.
