Help [Q]Phone app storage

I was wondering if apps that are stored on the phone can be moved to the external SD card. I know some apps natively allow you to move them to the storage on the phone that is the internal SD, but can any of these be moved to my actual SD card and still function? Would a simple copy and paste in root explorer work...I don't want to move everything, just apps that are useful on occasion and don't wish them to decrease overall performance/wouldn't mind if they run a little slower. Thanks.
