Q's from a noob about widgets & live w/papers

Hi,
Just made the switch to a Galaxy S3 after 5 years of iphone. So far loving the experience.
Anyhow to my questions. How much processing power and battery drain do widgets and live wallpapers eat. Are they just a novelty or worth using all the time. Or is it best to to not use them at all?

Welcome to Android Forums, and a nice Android phone.
I haven't noticed much battery drain at all with the widgets I use, but there was a time when I used live wallpapers a lot, and I finally quit using them due to severe battery drain. For me, it was just not worth it.

If you go into Settings | About Phone | Battery | Battery Use, it will show you what apps have been using the battery and how much. I personally haven't seen any significant battery drain due to the widgets I use.
