Root Question about 360° Youtube Videos

This may be a long shot but I was curious if anyone was ever able to view these properly. Whenever I try to it looks like just one stretched out panorama with no onscreen control or gyroscopic(?) control to look around. May just be a limitation of our phone but worth asking. I'm currently between the Spirit mod ROM and Dirty Unicorns 4.4.4 with both yielding the same results. Youtube up to date on both.
 
Not all devices seem to support this feature just yet just the newer ones. I've read that they're extending support to other devices but don't know if that's true.
