Question about App not downloaded from Market

Hello,

I have a question about apps not downloaded or purchased directly from the market. I sometimes use Getjar to get some apps and the Market does not see these as purchased. However, when I link the app to the market using root tools, it does come up as an update is available. However, I can't update from Market because it tells me I did not purchase the app.

Is there a way to do this? If not, how to I keep the app updated?

Thanks,

If you did not get the app through the market then you will need to update it from the original source. If the Dev didn't update the Getjar app as fast as the market, you'd have to wait or contact the developer directly.

I can't seem to update from GetJar though. I hate the app actually. It is slow. I launch it and go to "My Apps" but all it tells me is to create a Facebook account. I don't want a Facebook account. Don't see a way to update it.

If Getjar has a newer version, you may need to uninstall your existing app and reinstall the new version. Or, you could either contact the developer for a solution or buy the app from the market.

I've updated GetJar apps without giving the app my Facebook account. Maybe you have a different version of the app than I do? Try clearing data on the GetJar market ( Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > GetJar > Clear Data) and set it up again.

No luck! Tried clearing data. Same issue. I uninstalled completed using Titanium Back, rebooted and then reinstalled latest version. Still same thing. I click on My Apps and it just has a Facebook link. Not sure how to update?

I know there is an update because the market app does indicated this. Regardless if they don't have it posted yet, I don't get any of my Getjar apps under My Apps.

I have gotten a few apps from getjar, but have never received an update for any of them. If I can get a good paid app for free that doesn't really have to have updates installed I'll pick it up. However if I know updates will be required or make the app better I will purchase it from the market.
