question about battery

So got the phone with like 54℅ battery and it had to install all the updates so it went down to 44. So I threw It in the charger for 45 minutes and got to 68℅ so I have listened to about 5 songs and installed one or two apps and it has gone down 7℅ already. Does it bees to be completely 100℅ charged in order for it to have the best battery. I know I don't have to kill it but out of the box does it have to be charged completely to have like the best battery? Cause it seems like the lg g2 was better.

Phone went down 2% typing that message. Did I get a faulty battery? Or do I need to charge it completely first. Or is it Google+

The battery meter may not be calibrated yet. The phone needs to see the full charge point. Then your percentage drops will be less relative to that point.

I know one full charge is required and that means with the device off . when it get at 100% and it only takes 4hours

When you first get it the use is not typical. It really uses a lot to get everything setup. The best is as was suggested ... charge it to 100% each day for the first 3-5 days and then see what the battery drain is like.

Thanks yeah cause its draining fasttttt and I'm scared. Mt iPhone never did it and I'm trying to get used to android. So far this phone is the beat phone ever.

Was one of those tasks you performed installing the upgrade from Jelly Bean to Kit Kat? That one is so battery draining there is a warning to charge your battery before you start it.

It did two updates both took about 15 minutes each. Charged about 45 mins only and battery still going down fast. But hopefully it gets better once I charge it tonight.

After you charge it to 100 percent a few times, I'd also let it run down til the phone shuts off one time. I wouldn't do that very often, as I've heard a repeated deep discharge is bad for the battery.

Like others have said, there is a lot of activity when you first set up the phone. Plus you're playing with a lot. I'd give it several days before deciding what kind of real world battery drain you will see.

I was trying to kill it last night and was like impossible haha so it is a good battery. Only way it died was it was at 40% then 5 minutes later 3% I was like wtf is that normal?

Been on it for ten minutes and already down 2% something just tells me battery is already messed up idk never seems like my iPhone did this

Could it be that you added some apps you didn't tell us about? Try running in safe mode? Long press on power button, menu appears long press on Power off, menu appears reply OK. It will reload with all apps you installed disabled but not uninstalled. Run that way. To return to normal do a normal power off/power on.

You might have an app that is playing with the displayed information.

If you are saying it was at 100% and two minutes later it was 98% that is possible. It charges to 100% and then shuts off the charging. It starts to drop. When it drops low enough it starts charging again. Something reported at 100% could easily have really been at 98%.

This has already been answered:

Another thing: Android is different from iOS. There is a lot more background processing happening. However, both are similar in that if you use the phone a lot, it will drain the battery faster (which makes sense.) If you have a poor mobile signal, it will drain the phone faster.

I'm still going to echo Thom and suggest that you use the phone normally and recharge it daily for a few days and then see how the battery has performed. A few minutes tells you nothing. Twelve to eighteen hours for a few days will tell you how the battery life is for you.

i have just been texting and the phone is down 4 % like what the hell/.

You've got a new device. You're worried. I get that.

I only measured my Maxx twice going from 100% to 0%. It was 2d 18h the first time and 3d 2h the second time. Your usage may be a lot heavier than mine.

You have to turn it off and fully charge it.

You may have a defective battery and that needs to be determined in the first few days so you can get it replace if it is the case.

It takes a few days for it to settle in. Making determinations the first day is close to impossible.

Go to your Verizon store and get them in the loop on your concern.
