Question about early upgrade *please help*

I have the Pantech Matrix, a "dumphone". And I wanted to get the HTC Aria very badly, but unfortunately I have to wait until October 2011 for it. So I was wondering if I can get an early upgrade, even if I have to pay for it. PLEASE HELP!!

Go talk to AT&T man. Perhaps you can talk them into letting your sign a new 2 year contact. More thank likely though, expect to pay the full $370 retail on the Aria if you want it now

Early upgrade is a reality. It costs $75 and you get a new 2-year contract from the date of purchase. I know, because that's how I got my Captivate. If you are on a Family Plan, and are not the primary line, they still let you do that. Only AT&T corporate stores will do this for you, as they own the original contact and can tear it up for $75. All the other resellers will tell you that they can't do it, because they don't have the right.

fact of the matter is you'll probably have to pay your prorated ETF...and if you're going to do that you could consider other carriers and phones...

This is correct. You can early upgrade for an extra $75(if contract price is $200 then you would pay $275) as long as you are at least 6 months into your present contract. You will start a new 2 yr contract from the date of purchase and are allowed to use this early upgrade only once a year. Also, there is no ETF involved.

Just a warning, if you terminate your contract in hopes to start a new one to get a new phone, you have to wait 90 days before you can start over or else you will resume service.

I just spoke with ATT and this is not correct. You must be 6 months or less from the END of your contract, not 6 months into your contract.

So you are saying that they did early upgrades 6 months into a new contract? I was told 6 months before the end by 2 stores and by phone.

Unless you are getting an early upgrade, you might as well find one of the sites online selling them for $99

In our store, our policy is:

as long as your upgrade is in the same month, we can upgrade you, so if your upgrade is on aug 30th, we will do the upgrade on the first.


i just put it in my calendar to process the upgrade on the 30th.

but like you say, you're locked in at the 199 price, if I hold the 2 weeks, I can get it for the 99.

But PM me your store's location & I'll check their for my accessories.
