Help Question about firmware upgrading and Kies (ewww)

I originally asked this question on my Carrier's forum (O2) but no one replied.

I upgraded to Froyo 2.2 back in november. Yesterday, I connected to Kies (whoever invented this program needs to be slapped!!!) and it said there was an update available. Once I'd overcome numerous annoyances with Kies', I finally managed to upgrade.

Checked my firmware version in the About section of the phone and it still says 2.2.

What did I upgrade to? Am I on 2.2.1? Quite confused about this.

Thanks

you should see your version in about your phone.

i have this in mine.

Yes I know how to check my firmware version. It still says 2.2.

What I'm confused about is that I upgraded to Froyo last year and carried out a firmware upgrade through Kies yesterday. What exactly is it I've upgraded if not the firmware?

Do the following:
Tap on the phone icon and input the following: *#1234# this will bring up the version screen.

You will have the following:
Phone : I9000XX--- it's the last 3 letters your looking for
PDA : I9000XX--- " " " " " " " "
CSC : I9000XX--- " " " " " " " "

Build Info : 2010. 10 or similar

The last 3 letters could be JPO which is Froyo 2.2, if you did manage to update it would show JPY, which is Froyo 2.2.1

This is me:

On the CSC I9000O2UJP3 the O2 is for the O2 network. I don't think your phone is unbraned as JP6 and JP3 are network related.
If you had an unbranded phone all 3 would end with JPO and the update you did yesterday would have given you 2.2.1 JPY.

Yeah, my phone is branded (O2)

So, do you have any idea what the upgrade was yesterday?

Are you sue it was a firmware update and not a kies update.
Talking of kies, I don't know if you are aware or not, there is a new version of kies available now. kies2

get it here: http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.c...0/20101015082300359/Kies_2.0.0.11011_16_5.exe

This one is for the kies uninstall program, to remove the version you already have.

The Kies version is whatever was available on the Samsung website as of yesterday morning. Connected my phone, a little notification popped up in Kies saying my firmware was out of date. After I upgraded, I connected my phone again and Kies said I was already upgraded to the most recent firmware.

So something, somewhere has been upgraded.
