question about google calendar

hi!
i have samsung galaxy spica, and ipod touch 4.
each time i add a new event to my gmail calendar on one of the above, the other one almost never gets the update, and if it does, it's a week after the event.
how can i make the sync between the devices more quicly?

Are both connected to the internet at the time of adding? And is background data enabled?
