Question about Google Maps.. Please Help!

I have the newest version of Google Maps on a Galaxy S3 running Jelly Bean 4.1.2.. My question is... if I am at a place (say a bar or a restaurant) that I've never been before, but that I want to remember in the future, is there a way to open up Google Maps and kind of "star" or "pin" the place I'm at? That way if a few months down the road I want to go back to this place, I can just open up Google Maps and choose this place on a list or something and have it immediately give me the directions from whatever my current location is?

Please let me know.. I don't want to download another app if Google Maps already does this...

Thanks for any and all help!

From the map view just long press on the location. The Google map pin will show up and a pop up menu will rise from the bottom of the screen. Drag this menu up to expand it. Tap the save star. Done.

To see your saved places, tap the person icon on the right of the search bar. Nearby saved places and Saved places are show on the page along with recent searches and your Work, Home, etc. (if set up). Tap on any saved place for view and navigation options.

Thanks a lot! I will save this thread and give it a try sometime tomorrow to make sure I do it right! Thanks so much!

Thanks for your help man.. quick question though, how do I delete something that I've pinned or whatever in my Maps app?

Well it looks like you can't do it within the Maps app. But you can do it from the website. Goto https://maps.google.com/ and click on the My Places button in the top left corner. You can go down the All list, or click the Starred tab to show only those. Click the little down arrow to the right of the entry and click delete from the pop up menu. Alternatively, you can click the star to the left of the entry and it will grey out, deleting the saved place.

Sure you can:

The solution to this problem might involve a few less drinks! ;)

When I was looking this morning, my saved places stars were grey. I could tap them and make them yellow. Might have been a glitch with my phone this AM.

Must have been. I just checked on maps.google.com and The Nook now shows up in My Places (it wasn't in there before I tapped the Start this morning to test).
