Question about HTC Sence

I've seen the upcoming Sprint htc hero and am looking orward to it.
but I do have a question about the htc sence
what is it?
at first it seemed like a seperate OS.
but it's an android phone so it runs android right?
is it simply a homescreen replacement (like the aHome app on my G1)?

Yeah, it's just a layer that sits on top of Android and replaces the home screen. I prefer it to normal Android, but you can disable it and install almost anything else.
