QUESTION ABOUT INSTAGRAM

I'm not sure you understand. The icon is just a picture. For it to actually do anything there must be an underlying link and here there wasn't. It was just a picture. If you print it out on a piece of paper and tap on it with a pencil, it will do the same amount of nothing.

The problem is that I am looking for confirmation because maybe I missed something or maybe we are missing something.
I wouldn't want to have shared something unwittingly ,repeat, that's why I asked if it was necessary to choose the app to share it with and with whom to share.
Moreover this upload icon replaces the share icon so for that I would not want that it had the same function in the background, despite all the elements that persuade us otherwise(even if you click and nothing happens maybe in background performs a certain function).
Because of this maybe we missed something, I do not know, and we should ask to an expert.

@lunatic59 don't misunderstand my statement because, repeat, maybe we are missing something or maybe I'm thinking too much

maybe I'm thinking too much

I'm sure you are serious, but you really are missing the point. That icon, whether it's for share or upload is just a static graphic image. There is no html link on that page so it does nothing when you click on it.

Here is a button. Click on it and you will get rainbows and unicorns.

Here is another button. Click on it and you will blow up the world.

The first link works because I added an html link to it. The second one doesn't because it's just a picture. There is no link. That share/upload icon is the same. It's just a static image with no link. You can click on it all day long and nothing will be shared, uploaded or even blown up.

Ok,thanks for the clarification !

@lunatic59 just last question:but generally,on instagram or on any other app, regardless of whether the icon works or not,is it required to choose the app to share it with and with whom to share ?

If you are talking about the web page, then clicking on a share icon will usually get you a link to copy and paste into an email or text. That's how you share. If you are using the app, then the share link will give you the list of other apps you may use to share. The app you choose will determine how and who you share it with.

@lunatic59 just for curiosity I made a right-click on the icons and I noticed:
Like icon:options about a link appear(copy link;open link in a new tab;save link...)
Comments icon:same situation
Bookmark icon:same situation
Upload/share icon:options about a link don't appear
So that icon hasn't a link and,as you said,it is is like a blank page and therefore harmless, because there is no associated link and therefore no input, right ?

Surfing the internet I read an article on a website. In the article there was an Instagram video with several icons (likes, comments...) and also a strange icon ( I attach a photo taken from the web as example, but the situation is the same)
From the left:there is the like icon (heart),comments and then....? What does that symbol means (the arrow pointing up)?
I tried to click on it but nothing happens, if I click on the other icons it redirects me to instagram (ex: if I click on the like icon I get the message "log in to instagram to like", the input occurs). I repeat that I was on another site, I read an article with this video and this icon. What does it means? Did I accidentally share something ?

That is the share icon, it look different on Android though. The photo looks like Instagram on iOS.
