Question about insurance replacements...

So, a while back I had an unfortunate accident with my Droid RAZR. I had to get a new one. This has been bugging me ever since even though it was a good thing for me.

I originally had the Droid Bionic. I didn't like it and Verizon sent me a "certified like new" Droid RAZR. I thought it was dumb since I had originally got a brand new phone. Oh well, I was happy.

Then when I broke it a couple weeks ago, I paid the $99 and got another RAZR sent to me.

My question is: Do they always send a brand new device or was it a mistake and they usually send certified like new devices? My phone was originally used, and I got a brand new one complete with a new charger and 16GB microSD card pre-installed. My original RAZR that broke did not come with all that.

Is this normal or did they screw up in my favor?

As far as I know, warranty and insurance claims pull from a stock of certified like new devices unless they run out, then they will send you either a new one of that model, or a certified like new of a different model if you so choose.

Wait so if I have a RAZR and they have a certified like new Galaxy S3, they'd take my $100 deductible and swap it?

I hate asurion. Half the time their certified like new are in worse shape than the phone I broke. I've only used asurion for two phones, one I had to get exchanged more than once because the replacements had issues.
Anyways, ditched insurance. I can save that money and that deductible and put it towards a used device on eBay or craigslist. At least then I can know the issues with the device before I pay.

Yeah, from the conversations here, and my own experience, not real impressed with the Quality control of their Certified like New phones. I am currently getting one now (although under warranty, not insurance) The good thing is I am not keeping it but for a few days, trading it in for a RAZR M and taking advantage of the $100 trade in credit Moto is offering.

$100 credit? Surely they'll offer a lot more for a RAZR?
