Help Question about LED

ok so i got my phone...LOVE IT so far...i do have a question thats not really an issue. when i connect it to the charger the LED doesn't light up red unless the screen is dark/not awake/locked (u guys get the idea). Ive checked the settings and it is checked for it to be lit when its charging. And when i wake up or unlock the screen then the LED light goes off. Is this how it is on everyones? am i missing something?

No that's how it's meant to be

It goes off when you wake the phone because then you can see the battery indicator on the notification bar, so you can see it is charging and the charge level. Hence the LED is redundant in that state. That's the rationale.

(And having an LED is such an improvement on the S2, which inexplicably did not have one. Loving that obvious feature)
