You should be able to. I mean what's the harm in trying it out for yourself. I don't have first hand experience but it sounds like you should be able to. 
What do you mean by 3rd Party site? Amazon or similar?
Play, the Gameloft site, Amazon app store, Getjar, any official distributor should all be fairly safe bets.
Warez sites etc, you've no idea what you're installing so I'd steer clear.

And incase you are unsure whether it's a warez site, a simple test: if they are offering that game for free, it's warez.
