Question about nandroid backup

Quick question, if I do a restore of a nandroid backup, does that restore all apps and settings as well? Like my paid apps? Or will I have to buy them again? I ask because I was considering flashing a custom rom but if something went wrong and I have to restore I don't want to be at square one with my apps.

You won't have to buy your apps again, the Play Store knows that you've bought them, that's independent of any backups you might have done. If you wiped your phone and started again, when you went to the play store and found the apps you would be able to download them without paying again.

Backups should (it depends how you have it set up) enable you to quickly restore things like SMSs, app settings, home screen shortcuts etc.

Ahh ok, thanks so much. That is exactly what I needed to know. Anyone know a good simple rom that is not in an alpha or beta state, that has solid performance and connectivity like 3g and mms and all that? Or does it depend on the phone? I have a Huawei mercury from cricket, but if I ask in that thread I'm afraid it will be a while before I get an answer... there's very little activity there. :)

I've got Ice Cold Sandwich but thats for my HTC Desire HD so possibly not much help. Its a pretty solid ROM.
