Help Question about rooting, flashing and saved pw's

Korishan

Lurker
I'm new to this whole rooting and installing new rom to the phone scene. So, please excuse any ignorance.

I've done a few searches trying to find what I'm curious about, but I haven't found what I'm looking for.

I have a huawei u8800, that has several wifi hotspots saved with passwords. If I root, do a backup, re-rom, and restore settings, will the wifi hotspots/pw's be restored as well?

Thanks
Korishan

Wifi log-ins are synced with your Google account, so if "automatic restore" is enabled then they will be restored once you've signed-in to your Google account.

Some backup apps e.g. Titanium Backup can also back wifi credentials.

You can also back them up manually. your wifi passwords are stored as plain text in /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf

Just copy this file somewhere safe and copy it back once you install your rom.
(you do need root to access /data though)
