Help Question about rooting

So here's the deal, I accidentally bricked my phone, however I managed to flash a similar stock rom (Huawei U20, my model is U151). Everything was fine and dandy until I decided to root, I used the same software I did for my old rom (Kinguser), however my phone just restarts and nothing happens. When rooting do you have to root specifically for the rom you're currently using or the phone model?

Root methods depend on the phone and may also depend on the software version.

There are tools which claim to be "universal", but those claims are never truly accurate. As I know neither this phone nor that tool I can't say more than that it is possible that the ROM version is a factor.
