Help Question about serial number.

Which is the right serial number? In About Tablet/ status/ serial number it shows as a seven digits and a letter. But on the label on the box this number is listed as CSSN, but there is also a SSN number (letter, two digits, three letters, six digits) which is more "in keeping" with ASUS' way. I went on the ASUS website to register the device but neither number is recognized. I also, more importantly need the correct number for insurance purposes. Any ideas?

The about tablet (on mine) shows the CSSN, but the SSN on the box agrees with the SSN on the sticker on the back of the tablet. I think the SSN is correct number, I believe, but since it is from Google, I never bothered to register it with ASUS. For warranty, you go through Google and they provide any RMAs, etc and shipping labels and letters, I assume, though that is based on a RMA experience with my Nexus 4 and LG.

I'm guessing ASUS didn't take the number because they don't consider it their tablet in quite the same way a transformer, etc. is. However, I don't know.

Thanks for the reply Hook. Interestingly, there was no sticker on the back of the device, unless it was on the plastic wrap. Thing is, if the thing is lost or stolen, how else can it be identified other than the CSSN?

It can be tracked via various "Find my device on Google Maps" services, but, yes, if you had to prove ownership, the CSSN would be the only number in evidence in software as far as I can tell.
