Question about the "death of Google reader"

So I've used flipboard Every morning for my daily news fix as long as I've had my sgs3. I have it signed into my Google Reader account. Are they retiring the Google news service all together or just the Google Reader apps?

It is my understanding that the entire Google Reader service will be retired. It may be a good idea to export, if that's possible in Flipboard, your feeds, then unlink your google reader account and import your feeds as stand-alone rss feeds.
