Question and kitchens and Jkay app

Hi,

I've got a few of questions i'd like help with please

1) Is Checkrom the only rom with a kitchen to make it easier to install apps/themes ? None of the others seem to have this app

2) Everyone seems to talk about the JKay app as if it's amazing or really important but i fail to really see what it does. It seems pointless. I've heard people say it's related to themes but in what way is it?

3) If i apply a theme from the checkrom kitchen, the only thing it actually themes is the notification area. Everything else looks exactly the same (apart from the ICS theme which does actually change everything). Is this how it's supposed to be ?

Thank you :)

/edit - title is supposed to say "Questions *about* kitchens and Jkay app

1) I am not sure - I am on Checkrom, I tried a couple of others early on, but didn't see a kitchen in any of them

2) It allows you to add/change the options on the notification toggles, alter the lockscreen, change what is displayed on the power button menu plus a whole suite of other options. To be honest, I can't live without it

3) I think it depends on the theme. I have installed a number of themes and, yes, the notification area is changed, along with the fonts, application icons, menu colours etc I haven't hit a theme that only changes the notification area yet.

Cheers

Hi there, i have a question about the kitchen app.

1) Every theme i download and install doesn't seem to work, i get an error on bootup saying this action is not supported by this app? I then have to restore as it loops. Am i doing something wrong?

Many thanks in advance! I'm still learning!

I'm not sure - I know that there has been some problems flashing direct from the kitchen if you had an external SD card installed.

You can either remove the card while you flash, or you could boot into CWM Recovery and then manually flash from the Internal SD card (Files from the kitchen are downloaded to Download/CheckROM_REVO on the internal SD)

Also, what version of CheckROM are you running? You should check, at the very top of the Kitchen app, that the Server is referring to the correct version of the ROM. If not, go into settings (Menu/More/Settings) and then select the server there.

Hopefully, some of that will help

Cheers

1) So far...but I wouldn't say it makes it easier to install apps/themes/roms, just easier to download them. It's quite buggy when it comes to installing.

2) There are jkay themes and jkay settings. CheckROM is a compatible 'jkay theme', but there are lots of custom themes that support jkay settings. If you're on CheckROM, you'll need to manually update to the newest jkay settings (which wasn't the case on Revo ROM).

The newest one is v13.2.2, which you can get here. Just unzip and install the .apk as normal, and it will update your current version.

Regarding what you can do with it, it's what PureLoneWolf said. I like it for the statusbar add-ons like flashlight :D It has cool lock-screen functions, which I don't use, but they're fancy!

3) Theme-dependent. Some aren't that good...but the ICS one is awesome.

Also a good tip by PureLoneWolf to make sure the Kitchen server is updated to the newest rom (or your current rom) otherwise you might be downloading outdated/incompatible themes/add-ons.

Sorry to hijack your thread but
how do you get the phone signal, clock time, and data name to be a different color like this example here wihere it is yellow. I want mine to be blue signal bars, batter, and the 3g sign blue. I am currently using the jkay blue circle theme with 13.2 settings. Also when I enable gps it doesn't show the little circle icon at the top

if you goto the kitchen app there are themes there, one called "GalaxyBlue" and another called "Blue Monkey v5"
these should give you blue icons, or the ICS theme will do also, thats the one i opted for and love it :D

edit:
actually upon looking, the theme called "Revolution Super" appears to be the closest one to the orange theme above, but in blue ofcourse.
