Help Question: Frame of S3 construction

Bittsen

Newbie
Let me start by saying I broke my digitizer.

I bought a used replacement that is installed in the housing.
I have a T999 but this one was, obviously, from a different model.

The frame model is different. The component recessions on my frame are different from the ones on the replacement frame.

I see some components that are "included" in the frame. Does the fram carry any circuitry?

I want to be able to grind down the frame of the replacement, with a dremel, to accomodate the components on my board. Would grinding the frame .030 maximum, in some spots, damage any unseen component?

What is the material of the frame? Is it really titanium as some say?

Thanks.

Since there were no responses, I threw caution to the wind.

The frame seems to be titanium. It takes FOREVER with a dremel to cut into the frame. One recess, taking breaks to keep the screen from getting hot, took a half hour with two different grinding bits.

There is no circuitry in the frame. When you grind, you grind metal.

I am hoping for success. There is about two more hours of grinding I need to do but I got the biggest one done. THe rest are touchy cuz one slip of the dremel and I'm grinding components.

The s3 is plastic tbh! I dont know of any titanium in there... good luck with the project
Thanks.

I know it's not plastic because it doesn't melt and is shiny when I grind on it. I'm 3/4 done.

The only other metal that would be this light is aluminum but it would flex too much. I suppose there might be other metals but this stuff is pretty hard.
