Question from a tech newbie

Hey guys, I went in to play with the new Thunderbolt, but I'm a Motorola fan. The store guy was talking to me about the Bionic also. He mentioned something about the RAM. Saying the Thunderbolt has more than the bionic but the bionic has a different kind so it may not be that big of a deal. I was curious if someone could explain to me what this DDR2 RAM stuff really is in simple terms. Is the bionic only having 512MB already putting it behind the Thunderbolt out of the gate? The Verizon guy said it was a different kind of memory, but I have no idea what it means. Am I wasting my time by waiting for the Bionic or will it even be noticable between the two devices. I aplogize if this was addressed somewhere else, but just wanted a quick explanation.

Alright. DDR2 (Double data rate 2) Random Access Memory. Let's decipher this.

Essentially: the Droid Bionic would have half the amount of RAM as the Thunderbolt. However, the way DDR2 RAM works is that can work on both ends of the system clock. In layman's terms: speed-wise, the two phones are about the same in terms of RAM, but with DDR2, a faster processor would be better put to use. Therefore, and correct me if I'm wrong for I am a Sprint customer, the Bionic would be the faster of the two phones.

Assuming the Bionic has at least a 1ghz CPU with the 512MB of DDR2, it would, theoretically, run faster.

Thank you, 2 semesters of IT Essentials.

i personally think..

more ram is better. even with faster tech.. cpu still has to take time to move data in and out of smaller ram.

htc is better than moto.. for many reasons.
