Question: How do I copy files from one android to another?

Ok, here is my situation. I currently have the moto droid x first generation. I will be getting the samsung galaxy s3 very soon and I want to be able to copy all of my music/apps/numbers and ect onto my new handset. I want the saved files on the apps to though. If I am on level 23 on angry birds on my droid, I want to be on level 23 on my galaxy s3. Same thing with other apps with in game files such as gamboid (a gba emulator) that have saved game data for me. How would I copy these files? Thanks in advance :)

For pics, movies, docs, etc, you can just swap sdcards, that is if the SG3 has one.

You could also backup your sdcard on your X to your PC, then copy those files to your SG3.

For game data, I can't help. I have read that certain backup methods don't save game data and since I don't play games on my phone, I don't know what works and what doesn't.

Game data cannot be transferred like normal files. As previously mentioned, files like music, documents, pictures and videos can be physically transferred via the SD card, or via bridging over a PC.

Game data to be backed for transfer needs you to be rooted on both devices and using an app like Titanium Backup Pro or MyBackup Pro. Nowadays however, many games allow saving data over Facebook or Dropbox or accounts like OpenFeint, where they save your progress in the cloud. For games with these features, once you log in to your account for these games on your new phone, progress will be transferred.

I have also noticed that the gs3 has is usb compatible. I is possible to pulg my droid x into my gs3 ( via an adapter) and acsess all files on my droid x, would this be possible to tranfer all files onto my gs3 using this method?

As for moving the apps, there are several apps to backup and restore from your SD. I use AppMonster Pro Backup Restore:

“With AppMonster you can easily manage, backup and restore your apps. Enjoy features like batch backup, batch restore, uninstall, install from SD card, share and much more.”
